FRIENDS OF ELLIS
CONSENT & SAFETY
Freedom works when we communicate.
FoE is built around adults having the freedom to connect, flirt, explore, play, and make their own choices.

That freedom works best when people communicate clearly, respect boundaries, stay aware of the people around them, and speak up when something does not feel right.

Choose what you need below.
KEEP THE SPONTANEITY. REMOVE THE ASSUMPTIONS.

BEFORE YOU PLAY

A practical swinger's guide to communication before, during, and after play.

Talk about boundaries, protection, marks, relationship agreements, rejection, changing your mind, and staying connected once play begins.

BEFORE YOU PLAY
WHAT FoE EXPECTS FROM EVERYONE.

RULES & COMMUNITY STANDARDS

Our shared standards for consent, boundaries, respectful conduct, privacy, alcohol, play spaces, safety, reporting, enforcement, and community responsibility.

These standards help us address concerns consistently while leaving room for context, conversation, and human judgment.

READ THE STANDARDS
YOU DON'T HAVE TO KNOW WHETHER IT "COUNTS."

NEED TO TALK?

Something happen to you? See something that concerns you? Unsure about an interaction? Want to ask how a rule applies?

You do not need to confront someone first, prove misconduct, or know exactly what you want FoE to do before talking with us.

CONSENT & SAFETY AT FoE

FoE is not trying to remove the spontaneity from swinging. We are trying to remove the assumptions that cause people to get hurt.

Speak. Listen. Pay attention. Before, during and after.

Communicate what you need. Respect what other people need. Stay connected enough to notice when something changes. If something goes wrong, speak up. If someone speaks to you, listen.

Your responsibility to communicate does not eliminate someone else's responsibility to listen, notice, and check in.

Freedom works when we communicate.

SOMETHING HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?

If you are at an FoE event and something feels wrong, find any FoE Admin.

You do not need to find the "right" person or wait until the event is over.

The sooner we know, the more we may be able to do. We may be able to check in, clarify what happened, stop behavior, separate people, address a concern, or help someone get the support they need.
